The Sea Kayak Coach Training course is designed for paddlers who want to plan and deliver safe, enjoyable, and progressive coaching sessions on the sea.

This Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) endorsed training develops the skills needed to coach a range of paddlers in sea, touring, and sit-on-top kayaks in moderate coastal conditions.

This course is suitable for paddlers looking to begin coaching on the sea, whether within a club environment or as part of professional development.

What the Training Focuses On

The training focuses on the practical application of coaching skills introduced in Core Coach Training, adapted for the sea environment.

  • Understanding how, what, and where to coach on the sea

  • Coaching technical and tactical paddling skills

  • Managing groups in moderate coastal conditions

  • Preparing for Sea Kayak Coach assessment

Relationship to Assessment

This is a training course only. Assessment is a separate Paddle UK process and is not included as part of this course.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear understanding of what to expect from assessment and how to prepare.

  • Daily hours: Typically 9am–5pm

  • Group size: Small groups

  • Equipment: All equipment provided

  • Accommodation: On-site camping and local options available
